Bye bye blog and hello Facebook! I have never been good at keeping up with this blog because I dislike using the computer at home. My iphone makes technology much easier and more accessible. So, I’ve decided to leverage what I’ve got and finally gave in and created a Facebook page. So far I really like it. Dad was quick to point out that he’s already been on it for 2 years–way ahead of me. Ha! We’ll see if I can keep up with it…

We have new life at our house, and it’s like experiencing the Animal Planet live. About 3 weeks ago we noticed a nest up on top of one of our outdoor speakers tucked away in a corner. We thought the birds hit the jack pot for locations, because it’s in a totally protected area in our lower covered patio. No exposed and unstable tree limbs for them! The mom and dad have been intently watching over the nest and took turns sitting on the eggs over the last couple of weeks. At night the dad perches on the sill of one of the living room windows and vigilantly protects the patio area. We’ve had so much fun watching them, and their patterns/habits are so regular that it’s been neat to see how instinctual birds are. Today brought a special treat–the (4) babies hatched! We sat on the patio for an hour tonight and watched the mom and dad search for food and constantly return to feed their babies. We captured a few pictures to show the new family that has nestled into our home.
I’m not sure how long they’ll stay, but we’re enjoying them for the time being. And, just in case you’re wondering…yes Mike and I acknowledge that our excitement over the birds is a sure sign that we are getting older. Ha!

Last weekend was probably our best trip home yet. A wedding with Tara’s family at Black Butte Ranch in celebration of Eric and Carrie, BBQ with my parents in Yakima, and a great evening out in Seattle with friends. Action packed weekend but well worth the extra couple of days we added on – we even managed to hit the first warm and sunny day in Seattle this year (or so we hear).

The sun is here, and it’s here to stay! (at least for the next 8 months) I feel re-energized, and I love it. We bought a new set of patio furniture for the downstairs deck and a set of lounge chairs for the upstairs deck. In the last week we’ve already broken in the new pieces with: breakfast coffee, evening “nightcaps”, and magazine reading. I see a relaxing Spring and Summer ahead.
I just now realized our 2 recent posts have revolved around the weather. Yep…we’re getting old.
Mike spent the last 3 days participating in SXSW’s interactive portion. Maybe he’ll write about some of his experiences to revive our blog and reflect our young, hip personalities. Ha!
